Dr. Mark McCann, Certified Animal Chiropractor, of Double MM Animal Chiropractic, offers chiropractic services for patients at CCVC.

Animal Chiropractic is an alternative form of health care based on the same foundations of human chiropractic, where a healthy spinal column and its corresponding nerves are essential to optimal function of the body. Nerves control a variety of important functions. Nerves control movements by the muscles they supply, and allow the feelings of hot, cold, soft and hard, as well as convey messages of pain. This information is then interpreted and processed by the brain.
How might you know if your pet could benefit from chiropractic? Any pet may benefit, but some additional reasons to seek chiropractic care include:
At a chiropractic appointment, Dr. McCann delivers a specific "adjustment" to all the joints that are misaligned, or "stuck." An adjustment is a very quick, low force, gentle thrust. The joints to be adjusted are determined by the animal's history, followed by a chiropractic examination. This includes palpation of the spine, muscles, and extremities, as well as posture and gait analysis.

Dr. McCann graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1986, and has been practicing in the greater Madison area since that time. He received his animal chiropractic education at Options for Animals in Illinois, where both chiropractors and veterinarians participate in an intensive 150 hour curriculum. He passed both written and practical examinations given by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association to become a certified animal chiropractor.
All chiropractic appointments must be done with a veterinarian referral. If your pet is not a patient of CCVC, but you are interested in chiropractic with Dr. McCann, please call CCVC to ask for a referral form to be sent to your veterinarian to fill out prior to making an appointment.
